FLU CAMPAIGN 2020/2021

FLU CAMPAIGN 2020/2021

 Dear Patient

If you are eligible for a flu vaccination we will shortly be contacting you to arrange an appointment. This year due to Covid-19 we are taking precautions to keep you safe; this includes removing the usual ‘drop in clinic’ and contacting you directly to book a suitable time slot. By using appointments we can manage smaller numbers of attendees at a time. We have also moved our Saturday clinics to the Rawling Road branch surgery to provide a one way walk through system enabling you to maintain social distance.

When you attend for your appointment please wear a mask or face covering if possible and it is preferred you come alone unless a chaperone is required.  You will be greeted at the door by a member of our team and asked to sanitise your hands.  We will then guide you to the next available nurse or health care assistant’s consulting room.

The clinics will operate as follows:

Saturday 19th September 8am–1pm      Patients over 65 years of age ONLY

Saturday 3rd October 8am–1pm             Patients 64 years of age & under at risk ONLY

Saturday 31st October 8am–1pm           Available to all eligible patients

We will also be arranging an evening clinic and a drive through clinic for anyone unable to attend the above. Child Nasal Flu clinics will operate mid-October.

Who should get the flu vaccine?

This year the flu vaccine is being offered on the NHS to:

  • adults 65 and over
  • people with certain medical conditions (including children in at-risk groups from 6 months of age)
  • pregnant women
  • people living with someone who’s at high risk from coronavirus (on the NHS shielded patient list)
  • children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2020
  • children in primary school
  • children in year 7 (secondary school)
  • frontline health or social care

Later in the year, the flu vaccine may be given to people aged 50 to 64. More information will be available later in the autumn.

However, if you’re aged 50 to 64 and in an at-risk group, you should not delay having your flu vaccine.

If you have any concerns or queries regarding this process please contact us using the contact form on this website and we will be happy to discuss further with you.
